Richmond to Phoenix, Day 5, Part 2 Roosevelt State Park

NEW YEAR'S DAY
AND THE END OF A LOVELY STAY AT THE PARK

A final walk about the park
and a few more pictures...

One more pose for the kids...

One more sunset...

And it's time to wrap up and prepare for tomorrow's trip!

THE END OF A LOVELY WEEKEND AT ROOSEVELT STATE PARK

Richmond to Phoenix, Day 5, Part 1 Roosevelt State Park

NEW YEAR'S DAY

STILL ENJOYING THE PARK!

And Michael's still after the squirrels!
I had hoped to leave them in Virginia :)

I'd love to wake up to this work station each morning
with its view of trees, lake, birds, etc.

This bluejay perched outside of my window for at least a half hour
with the acorn in his mouth the whole time.

Finally we noticed he had moved to another branch and no longer
held the acorn. Michael went outside and captured this precious image!

We celebrated the New Year with a picnic and hotdogs,
nitrate-free of course, with mustard and sauerkraut.
Irene called and we chatted for awhile, too.  :)

We are enjoying the day!!!

December 31,  New Year's Eve

The end of a beautiful day.
It's a very peaceful time, and we still don't have any neighbors!

The sun sets over Roosevelt State Park on New Year's Eve.
A wonderful way to celebrate!

The temperature is dropping and it's time to go in for the evening.

But, Michael's still outside taking pictures of the RV,
trying to capture the atmosphere.

This is an interesting perspective!

Christmas lasts from December 25 to January 6,
so we get to leave the decorations up!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Richmond to Phoenix, Day 4, Part 2 Roosevelt Fun

THIS IS STILL OUR FIRST FULL DAY AT ROOSEVELT
and we're enjoying the park and being out of doors!

Just in case you couldn't view the videos, this is the fun stuff!
(If you open the video and it's way too large for your monitor, press CTRL + 0 to reduce size)

These swings are made for kids,
so they don't go as high as Carol would like. Sigh.

We took a long walk through the park, just enjoying the flora and fauna.

The fresh air was wonderful and we had fun posing
and playing with the camera.

Some information for you.

Do you think I'll be able to sneak up on a bird or two
in my disguise from Ron Jon's?
(Yes, that's right, I didn't always have platinum blonde hair!)

So, let me know if you think it's worth trying!

Richmond to Phoenix, Day 4, Part 1B Roosevelt Fun

We really enjoy our time here.
The pictures are self-explanatory!

I know, we take a lot of pictures of ourselves. That's for our kids.
We want them to remember us as having had a good life,
with lots of fun and adventure,
and enjoying nature, visible evidence of our Creator!

Actually, Michael took all of these.
Carol composed only the first one, the portrait.
But he set up camera and took the shot!
Carol PhotoShopped it, of course!

Michael took this shot.  Very pretty!

Sometimes, well, often, I don't know what he's finding of interest
until I look at the pictures on the monitor later.
Little surprises for each other there...

...like, this squirrel!

Carol has great fun being a kid again...
follow the links below to see what she's up to :)

Hint: let it upload,---it will start and start and end abruptly. Then select replay in the upper left corner of the black box of thumbnails.  It's a white arrow. It's short, just takes time to upload at first.

Michael has great fun being creative;
follow the link to see what he does with his camera;
Be even more patient, it's worth it!
This one is a lot slower to upload---start it and go get a snack, come pack and replay...
slow upload but it's a lot of fun!

Richmond to Phoenix, Day 4, Part 1A Roosevelt State Park

Saturday, December 31, 2011

What a glorious day and wonderful place to wake up in
and to spend the last day of the year 2011!
God is so good!

Long shadows, very long shadows.  What a nice spot.
There aren't many people camping here this weekend.
It's very quiet, like we have our own park, or a very big back yard!

Time to see what we can find to interest us and to take a walk!

Michael discovered a tree that had a handle.
Of course we had to take a picture!  Or two....

We're headed for the water and some open space now.
No surprises there!

Michael's basking in the sun.
It was late afternoon but still bright on the water!

Wonder what he's dreaming about!

Richmond to Phoenix, Day 3, Part 9, At Roosevelt State Park

ROOSEVELT STATE PARK,  Morton, MS

WE LOVE THIS PLACE!

Our first evening we just got set up and took a long walk; the weather was perfect!

First things first!  Make it homey!!!  Nothing like a bright red poinsettia to add life!

Well, the glides are out but the computer desk is messy & the chairs aren't swiveled yet.

But, we are situated in our site for the weekend. That's the most important part!

And now we get to take a walk.  Couldn't wait!

Doesn't this park look inviting?  It's so quiet, so peaceful, so natural. We just love it.

Here we are, posing again. Our kids like the pictures but they want to see us there too.

The sun has set, dinner is finished, and Michael has Carol's computer devices all set up.
Looks more like a command center, doesn't it?

Hi-Tech:  using or relating to advanced technological devices and methods.

Richmond to Phoenix, Day 3, Part 8 Roosevelt Arrival

HERE WE ARE AT LAST!  I thought we'd never get here!

Turn Right!

Tower at entrance. Quite a view from here.

Now do you believe us?

This is our site, #11.  Michael is skilled at backing in. Don't you just love it here?

Long shadows at this time of year.
There's our picnic table!

WE SHOULD HAVE SOME NICE PICTURES OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.PERHAPS I'LL REFINE THEM,so far these are roughly re-sized for the blog.  And watch for some fun video clips of our adventures!  First we have to set up.  I think I'll make a special page for the setting up and breaking down. Some of you will be interested, but perhaps not all.
