On The Road Again: Big Spring to El Paso
Actually, we got a later start than we had hoped. We were aiming for a 7:00 am
departure, but there was something wrong with the hitch, so we weren't able to
drive out till 7:55. As I write, it's 8:45 am and the temperature has dropped
to 40 deg. We're passing a lot of oil drills, a cotton
gin (I guess), and nothing else of much interest. Of course, Carol's been looking down at her iPad, so she has missed a few good shots. Although
its still early, the sun is very bright.
And Carol's working on one of her projects. Wire crochet with beads. She'd better get busy with her knitting, it'll soon be time to deliver that prayer shawl!
Wire and beads and crochet hook, it's fun. Well, at least, it's entertaining.
Some pictures on the road:
We saw a lot of oil drills and industry, refineries, etc
So, after a late start this morning, we drove about 80 miles, planning to stop at a Flying J that didn't turn out to be there! So we pulled into a Fina station behind a truck that was fueling. We waited and waited and waited. Finally we left and found a Chevron station, got fuel and coffee and got back on the highway. That stop cost us 40 minutes..sigh!
Dusty!
Trains. We love the trains. Evokes a sense of adventure (and romance?).
Not like the rest stops back east, is it?
And probably a little windier?
We're headed in the right direction! El Paso!
That's our first segment on the road. Next we'll stop in Van Horn for lunch at Chuy's, our favorite, and most colorful, local restaurant. See you there!

Love that hairdo, and is that really a real rest-stop? I want to see all the wire crochet you got done :)
