Richmond to Phoenix, Day 9 Part 1 Enjoying Big Spring, TX

Day 9, Part 1.  Enjoying Big Spring State Park

We spent the morning relaxing and doing things around the RV and then went out for the day.  Our main idea was to visit Big Spring State Park, which we did.  We visited with people we met, had fun on the playground and hiked the nature trail.

Here we are, at the beginning of the trail!

It's a lovely view, isn't it?
Michael made a video of the windmills.  I think I've published it already!

Lots of desert flora.

We met a nice couple from Big Spring. He is retired US Air Force officer, flew B52s, etc.  His wife is from Big Spring. There used to be a base there, Webb AFB but now it is a prison compound.  And the town has the oil refinery.  We couldn't get any good pictures but I'll add one that seems o.k.

Of course, I couldn't resist the swing.  Boy, are the seats narrow, and I had a bruise on one hip to prove it.  I knew I would, but it was worth it.  And they were so low to the ground that it was really difficult to clear ground.  But, it worked out fine!

Michael and I took pictures of ourselves...and of each other.

Here are two YouTubes you might enjoy!

  1. Yay Michael! That looks like fun, even when you scared that little girl away!!! And the flora is starting to look a little familiar (like AZ?). Mom, keep up the swinging! I love it!
