Richmond to Phoenix, Day 12, Part 3 El Paso to Tucson

January 8, 2012

Pictures from the highway.

Welcome to Arizona

Pecan Groves are plentiful!

The scenery's getting rockier.

Ah, one of our favorite rest stops.  It's soooo scenic (and sooo windy!)

The opposite side of the road!

Plenty of parking spaces.

Dont'cha just love it?

Gotta love this American scene, too!

A great spot for us, a real quick stop this time.

Back on the road.  I wish I hadn't had to take this shot
from a moving vehicle.
But, then again, maybe it would've been impossible to compose it anyway.

Tucson 21 miles.  Yay!

In the next post, we will be arriving at
Davis Monthan Air Force Base, just NE of Tucson.

  1. Do you know what the area of that rest stop is called? Is there a park there or something? That area always intrigued me and I wondered if there was a park or camping opportunities. And what's with all the lights? A weigh station or border check-point? So glad you finally made it to Arizona!!!!!

    1. Looks like it's somewhere between Deming and Lordsburg. It's before Exit 302 for SR 90 East towards Ft. Huachuca and Sierra Vista. I don't remember about the lights, sometime after we got back on the highway after the rest stop.
