BACK ON THE HIGHWAY...again...and again...and again....
Soon after that, about 50 mi. from Roosevelt, we crossed the Mississippi River into Louisiana. The road was so bumpy I didn't get a picture. Sigh. It's been a terrible road, extremely bumpy. We couldn't even drink our coffee for awhile.
OK, here's our first train. Not the best shot, it's hard to capture these when they're moving and we're moving and bushes and trees and billboards and signposts go whizzing by. But we'll start seeing a lot more trains as we go farther west. I'm sure I'll thrill you with more exciting train shots! :)
So, as I said, we were back on the highway. Not much excitement there! Oh no! We just passed a Hobby Lobby! We PASSED it! As I am writing, we've passed through Monroe, LA, a fairly large city. It's about 12:30 pm and we're 112 miles from the Texas border. I haven't taken any interesting roadside pictures. Wait till we get farther west; the scenery gets more interesting. And I won't be so busy typing. We'll pass through Shreveport, where we used to stop and visit with Michael's daughter and son-in-law who just moved to Boulder. They were professors at Centenary College. Shreveport is about half-way between Richmond and Phoenix. So, by the time we stop tonight, at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, we'll be half-way to Phoenix already! I'd better get busy with some of those projects I brought to do in the truck!
And now I'm going to work on that prayer shawl!
Tomorrow I'm sure we'll meet some interesting people
and have more adventures!

WHENEVER I see trains paralleling the road, I think of the memorable drive you and I made from San Francisco to Manteo (or did we take my car all the way to Alexandria?). We must have taken hundreds of train and truck pictures, and that was back in the olden days when we had to develop film $$$$$!!!
