OK, it's time to get on the road again!
Michael's finishing up with the trailer preparations.
It's a brisk morning, with the breeze! Forty-one degrees doesn't sound
cold
but I am bundled up and wearing leather gloves, and my hands are still quite cold.
I've taken a lot of pictures of the breaking down of
camp --- all the steps of readying
the rig for the road. One of these days I'll put them
on a separate page in this blog,
as most of you won't be very interested
in the details. It is an important part of our
operations, though. The details are important--- life and death important, perhaps!
Last minute check.
Pulling out of our site.
Here's what it's like!!!!
This will be slow going, so let it start uploading and then
just push the pause button and wait for it to load. Come
back in a minute or two. After that you can view it smoothly.

This is a GPS view of the park, showing where we've been situated.
When we leave Richmond our friends envision
sunshine and warm weather
for us.
It all sounds idyllic. The truth is, we often have
temperatures below freezing
at night, and so we have to shut the water
off and can't get on the road
till it warms up to 32 deg. In parts of
Texas and especially New Mexico,
sometimes we can't even take walks; the
wind blowshorizontally and
temperatures are freezing. On those days
we waittill it gets warm enough
and then we move on, even if we had
planned to stay.
Sometimes we just hunker down and rest. We use the
water pump,
keep the glides out for space and stay warm...
...and figure out ways to entertain ourselves...
In celebration of the New Year, I'm wearing sparkly socks
Robin gave me for my birthday. You can't really see how they sparkle here,
but trust me, they do. If I ever get on a swing at night, I'll wear these and
get lost in the stars on the upswing!

Love the reflections on the RV windows as Michael pulled out. Sweet!
ReplyDeleteI love the "Rockin' Robin" graphic- so cute!
