LUNCH AND A CHAT WITH THE FUEL TANK DRIVER
At
1:00 pm (about 80 miles from Shreveport) we stopped for lunch in the RV at a
Raceway filling station and after sharing a sandwich we went in to get
tea and a diet Pepsi (and a small, very small, bag of M&Ms---to
share, of course ;)
We met a man from Oklahoma who was delivering a load of
fuel. He told us the truck holds 8,000 gallons. This truck had a
day-cab, the sleepers are heavier and can hold more. At least I think
that's what he said. It was a little hard to understand him, and he
periodically turned his head to spit tobacco juice. Yuck!!!
I asked him if he'd pose for a picture next to his rig. He agreed to do it! Yay! I'm getting bolder!
I couldn't get a good picture of him because of the lighting and his hat, but I got him to pose next to his rig. I just love trucks, don't you?
He was a big
guy, wearing a Stetson hat and cowboy boots. He's been driving fuel
trucks for 16 years but he used to haul produce I said I thought
produce would be a lot safer. He agreed, but he prefers hauling fuel because the trips are short, so he gets to go home at night. He didn't
like the long distance hauls. AND he makes more money. $$$
I got in in a few close up shots surreptitiously while we talked, but they were grab shots... so.... WYSIWYDG. (Figure that one out!)

Yay, Mom! It must have been fun visiting with him. That's a huge truck he has. WYSIWYDG = what you see is what you don't get?????
ReplyDeleteOh! I really like the cartoons you put at the end of the blog entry. Please keep doing that!
